Ph.D. Entrance Test Or registration MKBU 2022
Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University (MKBU), Bhavnagar will be conducting Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) for establishing eligibility for admission to Degrees of Doctor of Philosophy.
The registration/application process is online. A working e-mail addressis cssential for registration. To register and apply go to "www.mkbhavuni.edu.in" and click on Ph.D. Entrance Test. The candidates have to upload clear scanned copies of their final mark sheets and other relevant certificates (as appropriate) along with their colour photographs during the registration/application process. If any necessary documents are missing the candidate will not be allowed to appear in the test and no further correspondence will be made. The status of applications will be available online.
Necessary instructions are given in the online registration form. It is the responsibility of the candidates to provide all correct and relevant information and documents.
After successful online formm submission, the relevant details of the application form and receipt for payments will be generated for your record.
After the verification of all applications, the status will be updated on the website, and admit cards can be printed out. Please check the website and vour e-mail regularly for updates and instruetions.

Conditions of eligibility:
i) Candidates having recognized Master's degree or recognized degree equivalent to Master's degree only in the subjects of Ph.D., for which entrance test is being conducted and mentioned separately on the website, with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade (without any type of grace marks) can appear in this examination, in the subject of their master's degree.
(ii) Five percent (56) exemption in marks will be given to SC/ST/SEBC (non-creamy layer)
differently-abled candidates for the eligibility of the PET examination.
A list of subjects for which PET is being conducted is available on the registration site.
Important: Candidates holding Distant mode / other mode degrees of the universities not
authorized by MK Bhavnagar University, UGC, and the Government of Gujarat will not be allowed to appear for the PET. Details are on the website of the UGC concerned regulator.
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) /Scheduled Tribes (ST) /Socially and Economically Backward Class (non-creamy layer) (SEBC) of Gujarat/ differently-abled (Physically Handicapped (PH)/ Visually Handicapped (VH) etc.) categories, should upload scanned copy of necessary certificates with the application form. The reservation policy of the Government of Gujarat is followed at MKBU.
Exemption from Ph.D. entrance test (PET): A candidate who fulfils the following requirements shall be exempted from appearing in PET but has to apply online:
A candidate who has passed National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by/for UGC/CSIR/CBSE, or Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET), for admission to Ph.D. The result should be valid at the time of application. Any test which is declared the cquivalent of NET, by UGC, will also have the same benefits. However, it is candidate's responsibility to produce marks for such qualifying examinations. The obtained marks of these eligibility examinations will be converted to 70 marks Those candidates who do not documents of marks obtained will have to appear in the PET and shall not be exempted.
Please note: All such exempted candidates also have to apply online with all relevant documents.
Validity: The result of this test (PET) shall be considered valid for two years from the date of declaration of the result.

Test Fee: (to be paid online only)
I. Candidates appearing in either Ph. D. Test.
(a) For candidates of SC/ST/PH/EWS/SEBC (with non-creamy layer certificate) categories: Rs. 1250 (Rupees one thousand two hundred Fifty only) + Bank Charges & Taxes (if any)
(b) For candidates of other categories: Rs. 1500 (Rupees One thousand Five hundred only) + Bank Charges & Taxes (if any)
Test Fee is to be paid online only, at the time of online form filling/submission, using debit
(ATM) card, eredit card, or net banking.
Details of the Test:
The test shal consist of two components divided into two sections as shown in the table below.
Section -A : Research methodology
50 questions, 50 Marks
Section- B : UGC/CSIR NET Syllabus of the concerned subject
50 questions, 50 Marks
Total Marks: 100, Total Time of test: 120 Minutes
Language of test
-Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce both English and Gujarati.
-Hindi, Gujarati, and English in their respective languages.
-Sanskrit in Gujarati/Sanskrit.
-All others in English
The questions in both the sections will be of multiple choice type (MCQ). No negative marking for wrong answers will be applied.
Syllabus: The syllabus of Section A, (Research methodology) is available on the MKBU Ph.D.
entrance portal. For Section B, Knowledge of the concerned subject, syllabus of UGC/CSIR- NET shall be followed. In the subjects where NET examinations are not conducted, the syllabus will be as per the master's degree syllabus of MKBU or available on the Ph.D. portal. If the NET is not conducted in a subject but GSET is conducted in that subject then the test will be based on the GSET syllabus for that particular subject only.
Marking scheme and Passing standard:
(1) Each right answer carries one mark. There is no negative marking for the wrong answer.
(2) A candidate must obtain a minimum of 50 marks from both sections. For SCIST/OBC (non creamy layer)) differently-abled candidates, the minimum passing marks are 45 only.
No gracing in these tests is allowed by UGC.
Examination method: The test shall be conducted by the universally adopted OMR-based examination method. Candidates shall be provided with two separate question sets for Sections A and B. One of the four answérs is to be selected by the candidate. All relevant instructions will be given at the time of the test. A raw score of the marks obtained will be uploaded on the website on
the same day.
Strict discipline is to be maintained during the test by the candidates, otherwise, their candidature for the examination will stand cancelled automatically. Complete proceedings of the examination are video recorded. The location of the university-authorized test centre will be mentioned on the website.
General instructions:
1. The application has to be made online on the university website www.mkbhavuni.edu.in. All relevant instructions are on the website. Please keep checking_ the website regularly for furtherinstructions and information.
2. Candidates must attach clear scanned copies of their master's degree mark-sheet and their recent passport size scanned photograph of appropriate size at places indicated in the online application form. Other relevant certificates for caste/handicap etc also will be needed for upload, where required. Marks at the qualifying exam are also to be entered in percentages (convert grades to percentages using the formula given on the mark-sheet, where needed). Copy of mark-sheet side showing conversion formula should also be uploaded.
3. Admit card will have to be printed by the candidates themselves.
4. Intimations and notices will be made as and when needed on the same website. It is the responsibility of the applicant to check the website for the latest communications. A working email address is a must. All applicants should regularly check their emails for information sent if any.
5. Candidates must read the conditions of eligibility before submiting the application form. The applicant is solely responsible for the essential qualifications of his/herself.
6. Online application process will close on the last date automatically.
7. The test fee should be paid online through a debit (ATM) card, credit card, or net banking.
8. No TA/DA shall be admissible to the candidates.
9. Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate.
10. Candidate should bring a photo-identity card at the time of examination.Without this
identificationproof and admit card they will not be allowed to appear in the examination,
In case of a change in name/surname,the name/surname of the candidate should be
similar to that in the photo id card and the application form of PET.
11. The decision of Vice-Chancellor, MKBU shall be final in all matters of PET examination.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the final Ph.D. Registration of the candidate will be subject to the availability of the supervisor/guide, resources/infrastructure in the respective subject, specialization of the supervisor/guide and subsequent approval of the University. Merely passing the test will not guarantee registration for a PhD. Relevant provisions of the latest MKBU Ph.D. Ordinance will be followed.
